Two mothers in York have starred in an advertising campaign to try and educate more mums-to-be on the benefits of breastfeeding for both mother and child.
The North Yorkshire NHS has enlisted the services of Rachel Lawson and Katherine Barber to model for their Be A Star poster campaign.
Both mums themselves, Rachel and Katherine hope that the campaign can help to remove any stigma associated with nursing in public, especially given that York has the lowest rate of breastfeeding in the region.
Katherine told the York Press " Putting the health benefits aside, choosing to breastfeed can also make life far easier for you as a mother. You don't need to worry about making-up bottles and it saves a lot of money too."
Lynn Fitzharris, a breastfeeding consultant for the area, shared Katherine's viewpoint and expected the campaign would show " that breastfeeding is not something to be scared or embarrassed about" .
She added: " Even if the mother is unable to breastfeed all of the time, some breastfeeding is better than none."
