Any mums-to-be who have recently conceived and are looking ahead to the summer with thoughts of how humid weather might play havoc with their maternity wardrobe may want to consider bamboo fibre.
The material is a 100 per cent natural and sustainable fibre, which while being soft like cashmere is also feather light like silk - perfect for warm weather.
Bamboo fibre is fast becoming a favourite for yummy mummys and eco-conscious fashion fans alike, and a recent blog posting on Green Earth News outlined the benefits of using the material.
" Bamboo yarn can hold up to three times its weight in water making it an excellent wicking material for summer clothing. It is also thermo-regulating so not only will it work to keep you cool in summer, it will work just as hard to keep you warm in winter," it said.
" It is hypoallergenic, making it ideal to use for baby items or for anyone with sensitive skin and it is totally plant derived so it's suitable for vegans who don't want to wear animal fibres."
The fabric is used to make Seraphine products including the
lounge pyjama and best-selling
knitted cardigan.
